Title Splash Page to The Dick Van Dyke Show No. 5, October, 1963. A title splash page is a single-panel intro page to the first story of a comic book. It was hand-produced on the comic book industry 11 x 17 illustration board and finished in the standard camera-ready process. The production incorporates pen-and-ink work, archival pigment printing, and physical cut-and-paste headings and text.
I Love Lucy, Bewitched, My Little Margie, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes... most TV comedy shows of the 1950s & 60s had a related comic and/or trading card series except The Dick Van Dyke Show! Charlton Comics published the Adventures of My Little Margie, so why not another TV title? Here is our unofficial representation, Charlton Comics Group parody company, "Charleston Tonics Soup," book. The cover sports a Bonomo Turkish Taffy contest ad parody below a classic "infinity cover” photo with the Petrie family reading the adventures of the Petrie family! The exclusive book's title splash page graphic is a reduced color version of the line art. The rest of the comic contains a "Tremendous Trio" origin story chronicling the creation of the Dick Van Dyke Show Alternate Comicverse set, plus our parodies of classic comic book ads and features. Please see The Book page for comic contents info.
Our Dick Van Dyke Show Alternate Comicverse card is No. 44 of a fictional series of 72 cards issued by our Leaf Brands, Inc. cards parody company, "Beaf Glands Pink." The series' setting is 1965.
